Klodzko Fortress

The large, well-preserved fort in Klodzko created a defence system in the 17th and 18th centuries. Despite the impressive sizes and unusual location, the fort was captured after bloody battles on 24 June 1807 by Napoleon’s army with two squadrons of Polish lancers from the Polish-Italian Legion. After reconstruction done by Frederick the Great, and even right up until 1945, the strongly fortified citadel had the role of a prison.

Underground tourist route

We recommend sightseeing the kilometers of underground paths. Every year in August you can see a reconstruction of battles from the Napoleonic wars. It’s also worth seeing the Fortress’ market, a Night at the Museum, Cinema under the starts as well as a rock concert “Rock Bastion” – all of these events are organized during the summer.

The Great Gorge

The highest part of the Table Mountains at 919 metres above sea level, the most recognized peak is the Great Gorge with terraces and with a hostel hung among them.

A road made of over 600 stone steps leads to the top (time approx. 40 minutes).

The Table Mountains

Polanica Zdroj is located in one of the youngest National Parks of Poland (because it was founded in 1993). The sand stone plateaus make it a special place undercut with precipitous rocky walls, thanks to which their shapes resemble gigantic flat tables. The highest part of the Table Mountains at 919 metres above sea level, the most recognized plateau in the Great Gorge with terraces and with a hostel hung among them.
As a result of erosion, the flat sand stone plates make rocky towns unparalleled anywhere else in Poland. Fantastic forms remind you of animals, huge blocks, valleys, corridors and gorges, often accessible only by steps, bridges and banisters they wake your imagination as well as giving you an unforgettable experience.


Miedzygorze is not a large village founded in the 16th century by lumbermen and coal deliverers at the foot of the Snieznik hill, which has, with time, changed into a summer resort of wooden character built in Swiss style. At the top of Igliczna hill is a pilgrims’ church from the 8th century in which you can admire the figure of Our Lady of Szniezna, crowned in 1983 by Pope John Paul II. At the bend of the Wilczki river there is a 22 metre waterfall, which, before the flood in 1997 was 5 metres higher and was then the highest cascade of the Sudetes mountains.

The bear cave

During the excavation of the marble quarry in 1966, in the vicinity of the Strom elevation near Kletno village, the longest cave in the Sudetes Mountains was found. The workers who first looked into the opening of the cave found bones in it, which they supposed to be a collective grave. However it was proven quickly that the remains of thousands of Pleistocene animals and above all a cave bear, which gave its name to the cave. The corridors here are over 3.5 km long on three levels. There is for example a huge Champagne Hall whose height is 45 metres. The many stalactites, stalagmites and other geological interests as well as cascades are deemed to be the most beautiful in Poland.

Duszniki Zdroj

At the turn of 11th century in the Bystrzyca River valley a wooden stronghold was built which was later replaced by a walled castle with a high tower. The first mention of the place which profited from commerce and the rights to store goods imported from the Czech Republic to Silesia are from 1324. During the religious wars the Hussites conquered the castle and to this day remnants of the walls and fragments of the tower remain.
In August 1826, together with his mother and sisters, 16 year old Frederic Chopin came here for treatment. He gave two concerts, the proceeds from which he gave to the upkeep of orphans. These concerts were seen to be the first abroad of this young pianist. Half a century ago in the old paper mill the Paper Museum came into being. Kudowa Zdroj & Czermna

Kudowa Zdroj has a population of 10,000 and is situated on the border of the Table Mountains and the Orlicki foothills. It lies on the Bystra stream which flows into the Czech Metuja River and later into the Laba, it is therefore the only Polish town in the catchment of the North Sea and not the Baltic. The main attractions of Kudowa are the open air museum in Pstrazna in which there are, among others, wooden buildings together with their interiors – furniture, bed linen, farming equipment etc., and also the Chapel of skulls in Czermna. This unusual sacred building, covered in skulls and shin bones of people who died from the Great Plague as well as the 30 year war, is only one of three in the world of this type.


Wambierzyce, in the borough of Radkow is a village built resembling a town. It is an important pilgrim and tourist resort, known as “Silesian Jerusalem”.  Maria’s Sanctuary, which came into being as early as the 12th century is connected with the legend of John from Ratno; he recovered his sight in this place and the figure of the Virgin Mary appeared in his eyes.
A basilica from the beginning of the 18th century can be found in Wambierzyce, of the baroque style (cloisters around an oval nave and 11 chapels). The figure of the Virgin Mary sculptured from lime tree wood, which you can see inside, is dated from the 13th century!
The church towers over a small square, from which 57 impressive steps lead, with symbolic meaning: 9 (the number of the angels’ choirs) + 33 ( Christ’s age at his crucifixion) + 15 (Mary’s age at Christ’s conception). Moreover from the end of the 17th century up until the 19th century a Calvary Hill arose with about 100 chapels and little chapels as well as 12 gates.

Golf range at Szczytna

In a naturally hilly terrain, surrounded by the Table Mountains and directly neighbouring Polanica, a Golf Range has come about of impressive technical and picturesque quality. The structure is open to all, without membership and with only a fee agreed to by the owner. It is exactly 5km from Villa Polanica.
The golf range – 9 holes, 34 PAR, offers equipment and golf balls, individual and group lessons along with golf shows with lessons on the ethics and rules of the game of golf.

Ski resort in Zieleniec

Laying at 950 metres above sea level, in the Orlicki mountain range in the Duszniki Zdroj area – Zieleniec is the largest ski resort in Klodzko Land. There are large snow falls in the winter (1300 mm during the year of which 40% between November and March) means that the snow stays here for about 150 days of the year. Due to the specific microclimate, the lay of the land, the air pressure and the movement of air masses, during just a few days in Zieleniec, your organism produces more red blood cells, which increases your efficiency, general proficiency and frame of mind.
28 ski lifts have been built in Zieleniec on the northern slopes (with the sun on your back), whose transport efficiency is approximately 15,000 people per hour. There are slopes of various difficulties and those taking part in freestyle skiing or snowboarding can use the snowpark and halfpipe.
